Job Description:JOB SUMMARY In accordance with the established vision and vales of the organization, the Communications Officer will report to the Director, Networks and will receive work direction from the RTVS Manager and RCCbc Communication Lead. The Communications Officer is required to enhance program communications and engagement with internal and external audiences. The Communications Officer will also work closely with the RTVS and Learning Health System Evaluation team to ensure stories and reporting are shared broadly. As a member of the RCCbc Communications team, the Communications Officer will also assist in general RCCbc communications activities as required. PROJECT SUMMARY The Real Time Virtual Support (RTVS) program is a multi partner initiative, led by the Rural Coordination Centre of BC, in collaboration with the First Nations Health Authority, Provincial Health Services Authority, Providence Health Care, and UBC Department of Emergency Medicine. It is comprised of three program areas: Peer to Peer Pathways, Rural Connections (Consultations to Conversations) and Learning Health Systems and Evaluations. ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY The mission of the Rural Coordination Centre of BC (RCCbc) is to promote improvement in the health status of people living in British Columbia’s rural communities. The RCCbc serves as a strategic forum that facilitates discussions between Partnership Pentagram Plus (Health Administrators, Policy Makers, Rural Communities, Linked Sectors, Academia and Health Providers) on coordination of rural healthcare services, improvement of effective collaboration, network partnership and leadership, and to promote understanding of rural health challenges and opportunities. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPlan, implement, and evaluate internal and external communications strategies in collaboration with program partners.Support program outreach to stakeholders.Work closely with the UBC Faculty of Medicine | Digital Emergency Medicine team to share stories, evaluation and reporting.Write and edit communications materials, including newsletter articles, blogs, social media posts, website content, and media materials.Create range of communications tools, such as videos, infographics/graphics, and presentations, including concept development, writing/editing, production, publication, and distribution.Contribute to the development and maintenance of the RTVS visual identity and ensure adherence to RTVS and RCCbc visual identity guidelines.Garner media coverage for the program and support the publication of articles in academic journals.Provide communications input during development of program proposals.Works closely and in collaboration with the RCCbc Communications TeamAssist in general RCCbc communications activities as required Qualifications Education, Training and ExperienceDegree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.3 to 5 years’ experience in communications role. Skills and CompetenciesStrong communicator who works well independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills.Proactive approach with ability to think strategically and identify ways to enhance communication opportunities.Ability to cultivate productive relationships and work practices with partners and other stakeholders.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, WordPress, and various design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other graphic design programs.Manages time effectively and meets ongoing deadlines.Superb attention to detail.Experience with corporate and/or institutional brand adherence.Passion for improving the health of rural people and communities in BC.
