Job duties:

Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine type and thickness of glass, frame installation procedures and materials required.
Repair glass doors and other glass structures.
Measure and mark glass and cut glass manually using glass cutters or computerized cutters.
Replace glass in furniture and other products.
Communicate with foreman regarding quality or breakage issues.
Check glass quality and be able to identify basic glass defects
Skills requirements:

Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications.
Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
Work from man-lift mobile equipment, cranes, and other lifting equipment.
Possess experience working in shop fabrication, repairs, and glass cutting.
Possesses experience handling different types of glass such as materials sealed units, mirrors, float glass, and toughened glass.
Possess experience working with 118-degree wheel, temper glass, self-lubricating cutters, laminate glass, computerized cutters, and circular cutters.
Possess the ability to free hand cut glass plates (curved cuts) and manually cut-glass plates (straight cuts).
Must be comfortable working in hot and cold/refrigerated conditions.
Must be able to handle heavy loads, stand for extended periods of time, bend, crouch, kneel as this is a physically demanding job.
Required education:

Completion of secondary school is usually required.
Completion of a three- or four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college, or industry courses in glazing is usually required to be eligible for trade certification.
Required work experience:

5 years or more in the relevant field of the above-mentioned job duties.

Pay: $28 Per Hour
