Job Description

AECOM’s Environment team in Ontario is looking for an Environmental Technician . This is a full-time role based out of the Pickering office with the majority of time spent conducting remedial verification sampling at a variety of sites in the Port Hope area.

You’ll be part of our growing field team that is supporting one of the landmark remediation projects in Canada. Your work will directly support the Remediation Verification Program which is undertaken following the removal of Low Level Radioactive Waste by a General Contractor.

The position has growth opportunities for various field roles within the project and the ability to write reports. The position will require working mainly outdoors with a portion of time spent in a dedicated field office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Field tasks:

  • Monitor excavations, including scanning and sample completed excavations, and characterize soils.

  • Check and maintain a range of equipment (e.g., radiological instruments, GPS, and XRF).

  • Assist in the resolution of issues and assess whether more or less remediation is required.

  • General field inspection and field survey.

  • Construction/remediation contractor field oversight and hazard assessments.

Office tasks:

  • Review past information to assess gaps in information and develop a sampling plan, input data into GIS, and prepare reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Environmental, Radiation Protection, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the environmental or construction field.

  • A valid Driver’s License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $45,000.00 – $60,000.00.
