Job Description:Woodlands North, established in 2000, is a professional natural resource consulting firm offering field services to the forest and energy sectors. Woodlands has offices in Edmonton and Whitecourt, and operations throughout the province of Alberta. We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join our team as field technicians based out of our Whitecourt office. These positions are for a summer term, a practicum work term, with a potential for full time permanent employment pending a successful summer season. The following positions are available for the summer of 2021: Creeks Technician: candidates will be familiar with watercourse inventory and sampling techniques. Project work will consist of extensive field work conducting stream inventories and roadway watercourse crossing inspections. Creek technicians will also be utilized for ecology projects as the need arises. Restoration Technician: project duties include participation in seasonally active programs with extensive field work consisting of data collection, site prescriptions and creek crossing restoration activities. Knowledge of lotic ecosystems and fish identification are an asset. Forest Technician: candidates will be well versed with provincial legislation and current best management practices. Project duties include participation in silviculture and forest inventory programs with extensive field work consisting of project supervision and data collection. Candidates should be adaptable to varied work environment that will change as projects arise and be comfortable with working long days outdoors. A knowledge of Alberta’s aquatic and forest ecosystems is recommended. These positions require strong written and verbal communication skills.
