At Code Ninjas Spruce Grove, kids ages 7-14 learn to code in a fun, safe, and inspiring environment by building and playing their own video games. Parents are thrilled as their children gain confidence and new skills including coding, math, logic, and problem-solving, as they progress from white to black belt. We also offer Jr. coding for kids ages 5-8.

Code Ninjas Spruce Grove is opening on May 1 with a state-of-the-art facility located on the second floor of the Westland Market Mall.

Our Centre is the “Dojo”, coding teachers are “Senseis”, and kids are “Ninjas”.

Job description

We are looking for a Coding Instructor (Code Sensei) to join our team of dynamic, energetic, forward thinking minds, working toward our common goal: providing a fun and safe learning environment for children. Our Sensei are the heart and soul of our Code Ninjas centres. This individual oversees the day-to-day coaching and student engagement. This role combines a passion for technology with an interest in teaching.

This is part time year around opportunity. Our student hours are:
Monday – Friday: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

You must be able to commit to a minimum of two part time shifts a week to be considered.

Do you have experience working with children? Do you enjoy teaching and building problem solving skills in young engineering minds? This could be the role for you.

Responsibilities include:

Training – go through our proprietary curriculum and learn it, so you can better teach the students
Become an expert on our coding curriculum, and be confident answering students’ / parents’ questions
Create a positive and safe environment which promotes the learning and development of the students
Work with children to determine their skill sets and help them succeed in their own unique way
Provide feedback to parents after working with student who is on a tour
Follow centre policies related to safety and cleanliness
Follow opening/closing duties daily
Clean and disinfect facility and equipment throughout the day to ensure cleanliness is kept up to corporate standards
Report to the management team/owner with respect to student progress, day’s activities and productivity in classrooms.

University students/graduates with a Computer science/Education focus
Working experience with children ages 7 and up (mentoring, coaching, tutoring etc.). Experience with camps preferred
Experience working with the general public
You are an expert in one of the following – SCRATCH, MAKECODE ARCADE, Minecraft modding, Roblox Studio, Web development, App development, HTML/CSS/Java script, TinkerCAD, Unity, LUA, C#
Passionate about technology and Robotics
Strong communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills & collaboration.
Knowledgeable about coding and technology; or able to quickly pick up basic concepts
Fun to work with and like working in fast paced environments where requirements can change frequently
Be excited to learn about new technology and services
Self-motivated to help students learn
Must pass a background check
Expected start date: 2021-05-01

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $15.00-$18.00 per hour
