Job Description:PROCESS OPERATOR – MANUFACTURING PLEASE NOTE – TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION, YOU MUST HAVE MACHINE OPERATING EXPERIENCE THE OPPORTUNITY: Our manufacturing client is expanding their Mississauga Production Team in response to an increase in customer demand: We are recruiting to fill several permanent full time positions. Both Process Operators and Process Technicians are required. Classification as a Process Operator or Process Technician and wage rate will be based on experience, education and the results of a mechanical aptitude test. As a result of the difference in experience, Process Operators who join our client’s company can step up to the role of Process Technician when they have acquired more experience and then enjoy a higher base rate of pay. Fortunately the initial base rate for Process Operators is competitive and reasonable. Our client is a Canadian Plastics Packaging company focused on delivering top value to its customers. Over the past twenty years, our client has expanded its product offering to serve a wider base of customers. The Process Operator reports to the Shift Supervisor. This position will also work closely with QA and packaging personnel. Please note that our client has both robust anti-covid procedures and physical barriers in place to protect your safety. The manufacturing plant is a reasonable commuting distances from Mississauga, Etobicoke and the west end of Toronto, Milton, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Cambridge and Guelph.Our client is looking for Operators with strong mechanical aptitudes who possess a diploma, degree or combination of appropriate training and experience. Preference will be given to those with at least five years manufacturing experience in high tech, high volume parts production environments or strong exposure to similar fast paced state of the art technological equipment. THE POSITION – HOURS OF WORK, COMPENSATION, POTENTIAL FOR OVERTIME, BENEFITS: 12-hour continental schedule: 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the next week. Alternates between 7:00 am – 7:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 7:00 am bi-weekly.Hours of work are subject to change depending on the needs of the business. Process Operators – Base rate – $17.60 to $23.32. Overtime after 40 hours in a week. Benefits – after 600 hours (probationary period) – includes prescription drugs, dental, and life insurance. RESPONSIBILITIES: In the Operator roles, responsibilities include any combination of the following, but are not limited to: Monitoring and stocking the lines with packaging; Monitoring material flow; Ensuring all scrap product and sheet material is removed from the lines; Rolling and feeding sheets into canopy, trim press and thermo former; Moving finished product into the appropriate location in the Warehouse; Refilling greasers, oilers and distilled water tanks; Assisting Packers during changeovers; Packing product as requested; Maintaining tight control of all materials and keeping all forms of waste to a minimum; Monitoring – process and product quality – to ensure products are produced within control parameters; Completing all statistical process control (SPC) requirements at the prescribed frequency and taking corrective actions; Ensuring material blends are correct and in control;Troubling shooting and make adjustments as needed to maintain the highest quality yield at all times; Conducting and ensuring that preventative maintenance is performed; Reporting problems encountered throughout your shift to the next crew members; Alerting supervision, maintenance and/or technical support if anything requires attention. Assisting / supporting / training other operators and packaging personnel; Identifying equipment maintenance issues; Participating in organization / preparation and completion of changeovers; Ensuring a clear understanding of work assignments and monitor against same; Ensuring knowledge is maintained as improved process methods are developed and/or new equipment is added; Ensuring that all the necessary equipment, process, quality and sanitation checks are conducted as per established procedures; Trouble-shooting the loaders. REQUIREMENTS: 1 year or more of hands-on experience with machinery in a fast-paced environment OR a technical diploma/degree. Willing to work 12 – hour shifts. Successfully complete a written mechanical aptitude test. Strong work ethic. Team player. Pleasant disposition – friendly, cooperative, helpful. Communication skills – speaks English clearly and easily understood. Authorization to work in Canada – Canadian citizen, permanent resident, open work permit.
