Position: Employment & Language Instructor
Job Status: Full time (37.5 hrs per week)
Salary Range: $25- $29
Closing Date: June 25th, 2021
Start Date: July 12th, 2021

The Employment & Language Instructor is responsible for the implementation and facilitation of Employment and Workplace Language for the Building Future Program, a program that provides adult language & employability training for immigrants.

The Building Future-Employment & Language Instructor reports to Executive Director and works closely and in collaboration with the Building Future Labor Market Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or certificate in the social services field or Education background
• Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered
• Experience recruiting employers, establishing relationships with business and community referral agencies;
• Experience in the development, organization, and facilitation of job readiness training and life skills groups
• Experience working in a community based setting in the Inner-city of Winnipeg
• Ability to follow direction and make decisions within the parameters of the job
• Ability to work flexibly in a high stress environment, adapting to the needs of the group/participant
• Ability to deal with crisis situations in an appropriate manner
• Knowledge of the resources available in the community to Individual experiencing barriers to employment
• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
• Non-judgmental and accepting attitude
• Excellent computer and administrative skills

Responsibilities

Program Development, Implementation and Facilitation

• Recruiting participants through presentation in various sectors;
• Conduct an Intake assessment of participants, monitor individual progress and case management;
• Build trusting relationships with participants in a non-judgmental attitude, in accordance with ECRC values and principles;
• Assist clients to set out SMART Goals and develop plans of action while providing necessary Employment support and assistance;
• Provide information and direction that will empower participants to make informed decisions in the hopes of improving their quality of life;
• Develop and facilitate an Workplace Language and Employment virtual class and in person class that will assist participants in strengthening their workplace language, and essential Skills;
• Observe trends amongst participants and respond accordingly to identify areas for program improvement;
• Responsible for the collection, accuracy and maintenance of records on the participants of the program for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the ECRC.
• Maintain and update participants file record including assessment levels, learning plans, progress and program attendance;
• Attend all program meetings and provide a written report regarding the successes and challenges faced in the program;
• Prepare monthly reports and documentation to fulfill funding obligations and submit it to the Executive Director for review, data-entry using the online reporting Database- SPRS;

Additional Benefit:

Regular hours of work will be at the ECRC office between 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday, however the schedule is flexible to accommodate meetings. After 3 months, the employee will be eligible to participate in the benefit plan which includes extended health to be paid 30% by the employee and 70% by the employer, as well as a match of employee contributions to an RRSP account of up to 2% of the employee’s gross salary and 3 weeks of vacation days.
